Raspy Junker voit le jour debut 2012, à l’initiative de Thomas et Julien, qui jouaient auparavant dans un groupe de reprises. Une fois cette aventure terminée, ils décident de se lancer dans un projet original, basé sur les compositions de Thomas. Ils recrutent alors plusieurs musiciens pour compléter la formation : Alp à la basse, Brice à la batterie, et Nicolas au chant.
Dès 2012, le groupe se fait connaître en participant à des concours musicaux tels que Emergenza et le Fallenfest. En juin 2013, Cédric remplace Brice à la batterie et joue son premier concert avec Raspy Junker lors de la finale d’Emergenza au Bataclan, où ils remportent le prix du meilleur show. Ce succès marque un tournant pour le groupe, qui enchaîne une petite tournée française en 2014.
L’année suivante, Alp quitte la formation pour retourner en Turquie, son pays d’origine. Patrick le remplace à la basse, et en 2015, Raspy Junker sort son premier EP intitulé « Board the Junker », posant les fondations de leur style musical avec des riffs puissants et une énergie brute.
En 2017, après des mois de travail acharné, le groupe sort son premier album complet, « World of Violence », sous le label M&O Music. Cet album, largement influencé par des groupes comme Metallica et Alice In Chains, reçoit un accueil enthousiaste. Ils se produisent notamment au Chti Rock Festival et au Raismes Fest en 2018. Cependant, cette même année, Nicolas doit quitter le groupe pour des raisons professionnelles, laissant le groupe sans chanteur.
Malgré cette absence, Raspy Junker continue de composer, cherchant une nouvelle voix pour mener le projet. C’est finalement en été 2020 que Nathalie rejoint la formation en tant que chanteuse. Malheureusement, la pandémie et les confinements empêchent les concerts, mais le groupe profite de cette période pour écrire et enregistrer un nouvel album. Ce travail aboutit à la sortie de « Bad Queen » en septembre 2023. Cependant, peu avant la sortie, Nathalie quitte le groupe en raison de divergences artistiques, laissant Raspy Junker sans chanteuse à ce moment-là.
Pour la Fête de la Musique 2023, Aghi remplace Nathalie et assure le concert avec le groupe. L’alchimie est immédiate, et Aghi reste en contact avec Raspy Junker. Leur performance lors de la Fête de la Musique 2024 est également très bien accueillie, et Aghi rejoint officiellement la formation pour poursuivre l’aventure.
Aujourd’hui, après plusieurs changements de line-up et des moments clés, Raspy Junker continue d’évoluer avec une énergie renouvelée et de nouveaux horizons.
Raspy Junker was formed in 2011 by Thomas and Julien, who had previously played in a cover band. Once that project ended, they decided to embark on an original venture, based on Thomas’s compositions. They recruited several musicians to complete the lineup: Alp on bass, Brice on drums, and Nicolas as the vocalist.
In 2012, the band began to gain recognition by participating in music competitions like Emergenza and Fallenfest. In June 2013, Cédric replaced Brice on drums and played his first show with Raspy Junker during the Emergenza final at the Bataclan, where they won the prize for best show. This success marked a turning point for the band, who went on a small French tour in 2014.
The following year, Alp left the group to return to his home country, Turkey. Patrick stepped in as the bassist, and in 2015, Raspy Junker released their first EP, titled « Board the Junker », establishing their musical style with powerful riffs and raw energy.
In 2017, after months of hard work, the band released their first full-length album, « World of Violence », under the M&O Music label. This album, heavily influenced by bands like Metallica and Alice In Chains, received enthusiastic feedback. They performed at the Chti Rock Festival and the Raismes Fest in 2018. However, that same year, Nicolas had to leave the band for professional reasons, leaving them without a vocalist.
Despite the absence of a singer, Raspy Junker continued composing, searching for a new voice to lead the project. Finally, in the summer of 2020, Nathalie joined the band as their new vocalist. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic and lockdowns, no concerts were possible, but the band took advantage of this time to write and record a new album. This effort culminated in the release of « Bad Queen » in September 2023. However, just before the release, Nathalie left the band due to artistic differences, leaving Raspy Junker without a singer once again.
For the 2023 Fête de la Musique, Aghi stepped in to replace Nathalie and performed with the band. The chemistry was immediate, and Aghi stayed in contact with Raspy Junker. Their performance during the 2024 Fête de la Musique was also well-received, and Aghi officially joined the band to continue the journey.
Today, after several lineup changes and key moments, Raspy Junker continues to evolve with renewed energy and new horizons.
